Quick answer: You can preload GTA 6 starting Thursday, Nov. 12, 2026, one week before launch, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar says digital preloading begins at local midnight. How to preload GTA 6 on PS5

  1. Make sure your pre-order is on the same PlayStation account you play on.
  2. Turn on automatic downloads: Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode > Stay Connected to the Internet.
  3. Free up at least 250 GB to leave room for the game and a day-one patch.
  4. On Nov. 12, check Game Library > Purchased. If it hasn’t started, select GTA VI and press Download.

How to preload GTA 6 on Xbox

  1. Pre-order on the Microsoft Store with the account you play on.
  2. Go to Settings > General > Power options and pick a mode that allows background updates.
  3. On Nov. 12, open My games & apps > Full library > Owned games and select Install if it hasn’t started.

Bought a physical copy?

The boxed version contains a download code, not a disc. Redeem the code on your console’s store as soon as you have it, and the preload works the same way as a digital copy.
